Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a pretty, clear mahogany with a warm, reddish glow and an off-white head. Coffeeish, malty nose. Medium body with lots of roasted and slightly burned malts. Distinct coffee flavours. Bitter finish from the burned malts. 060706

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Transparent ruby/black, small head. Roasty aroma with licorice and tobacco. Dry and clean with slim body. Some coffee and grapefruit, salty with notes of tobacco. Medium bitterness. A relatively drinkable laid back stout with a couple of sharp edges.

black with ruby edges, whispy head, slightly sour roasted malt aroma, big body, rich roasted malt flavor, very dry, long bitter finish with a bit of astrengent burnt malt bitterness that ruins what would othwrwise be a nice rich stout, specially brewed with organic malt for Whole Foods 25th anniversary

No idea who I stole this off of at my Christmas party. Sorry about that. Rather black colour. A stout always scores points if I can’t see through it and it has a nice head. Big roast and peanut oil aroma. Reasonably full body. Toasty, with light hints of nuts and coffee. Quite dry. Straightforward, but tasty, light stout.

Dark amber to brown color. Aroma of mild coffee. Dry mouthfeel, with a combination of caramel and roasted malt. Quite strong bitterness; in the end there is still a lot of caramel and roasted malt.

Thank you Tom/After4ever for yet another US stout :) It’s dark brown with a red hue and a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, light licorise and anise. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, coffee, licorice and a light bitterness. It’s on the weak side, but still it has a rather long finish.
