| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Bottled. Pours an almost clear dark brown, with a thin tan head that settles to a ring of foam. Aromas of coffee, molasses and leather with a touch of smoke. Medium and somewhat creamy body with fairly active carbonation. Chocolate and nuts with a roastly malt taste. Bitter dry finish. A bit light for a stout, but seems nicely balanced. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2006 12oz. bottle. Roasty and lightly sweet aroma, plenty of dusty cocoa to be found along with lighter toffee and caramel aspects. Deep, dark brown in color, seemingly filtered, with a lasting, creamy, light tan head. Flavor is roasty and lightly bitter to start, developing some mild hop and chocolate character, and finishing musty and dry with hints of ash, earth and faint coffee. Long into the after, some citric and leafy hop flavors surface. Palate is lightly acidic, somewhat thin and well carbonated, body is medium. A serviceable if somewhat mundane stout. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Smell is roasted malt, a bit of chalky cocoa and a touch of sweetness. Taste is roasted malt, a bit of chocolate and subtle sweetness, but fairly dry overall, and has a bit of a fruity berry flavor mixed with chocolate in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation.
