Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

12 oz bottle poured into a mug. Thick head. Color is black but slightly translucent. The smell is roasted coffee. Body is light for a stout, thin. The taste is off watered down coffee. Some coffee aftertaste left on the tongue. One demonsional and poorly executed.

From a 12 oz. stubby brown bottle with a USDA Organic seal on the front label, no freshness date. Made a decent appearance, poured a opaque red hued roasted coffee brown with a small fizzy tan head that reduced to a minimal sticky, bubbly thin lacing. Had a tasty aroma, a roasted coffee malty, a little burnt chocolate and a mild sweet barley maltiness. Moderate carbonation and a smooth medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Had a nice roasted malty taste with a touch of charcoal, roasted coffee malty, just a hint of chocolate, a buried fruitiness and a sweet malty finish.

Pours near black with ruby hues with a mostly receding tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark bread, aromatic malt, and only a slight roastiness. Tastes begins sweet and ends on a long complex bitter and roasty note. Very creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

Dark color and a faint head. Good body- molst organics I have tried always seem to be thin, but this one is nice. Alcohol is just right as well.

Bottle from Daknole, Starts with roasted flavor, very slight sweetness, then finishes very dry, decent, nothing wrong with it, fits the style well.

An organic dry stout, I wonder if it will taste like anything. Burnt siena with a thin tan pond scum of a head. Aroma of dark and roasted malts with some smoke and peat. Taste of roasted malt, mild chocolate and a touch of sweet malt. Moderate dryness to the finish and the astringency takes holds of the sides of the mouth. Better than I thought it would be.

Bottle. Pours a dark brow/black with medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavor was nice....nice hop flavor with nice strong dark roast. Palate was medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Clear brown with a medium light tan head - too light for a stout. Pleasant roasty mocha aroma. Flavor has notes of chocolate, mocha, caramel, coffee, roasted malt, some hops and a slight metallic taste in the finish. Overall, pretty bold and flavorful. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Needs some tweaking but all in all, it’s a solid, tasty brew..
