Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

[Thanks Davinici] Pours a dark murky thin rootbeer like color with some off-white froth on top. Milk-chocolate and coffee aroma. Flavor is pretty straight forward, light milk-chocolate. Dry finish. Carbonation is pretty extreme and the body is quite light and airy.

Nearly Black with ruby/brown accents. Average head. Aroma has some cocoa and dark malt flavors and it is slightly biscuity. Taste is of roasted malts and some cocoa. A little weird in the after taste.

12oz bottle. Pour is a dark brown/red with a long lasting pillowy head of white cream. Tight tiny bubbles. Aroma is sweet caramel and just a touch of roastiness. Flavor is mild upfront but the roast starts to show more and more as it rolls over the tongue. Very mild stout. Nothing harsh, nothing biting, and kind mild on flavor. But it is easy to drink. The score is worse than it should be.

Some roaty aromas, malt. Poured a really dark brown, almost like a porter or a darker brown ale. It did have great roasted flavor, pretty smooth, but it did have an extremely light body. Not bad.

12 oz bottle; cellared about a year. Deep clear burgundy with a foamy oatmeal head. Nice nose of brown sugar, cinnamon, grapes and dark chocolate. Brief crab, mild lemon-lime bite, and coffee are knit together with licorice malts. Simple but soild stout.

very dark red/ruby pour. The aroma is quite nice. Loads of cocoa powder! Its like smelling cake mix. WOw, the flavoris really quite nice. loads of chocolate, cocoa powder, touches of coffee in the finish with a nice lingering bitteress. Very sweet overall, and not really what i would consider a dry stout. Kinda thin for a stout also, I think this would be at home in the porter category.

Pours a dark cola with a reddish tint and a medium sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee beans. Taste of roasted malt and coffee beans as well. A nice and simple stout.

Bottle, from Cary Wholefoods. Ok nose, sweet & roasty. Cocolate, little seltzer/chaulky, berry, grape. Clean orangy brown color, small had that faded to a ring with minor lacing. Bitter sweet flavor, like aroma. Nice dry chocolate taste, Little winey & chaulky. Medium body, lite creamy oily mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. A tasty , easy to drink, dry stout.
