Medium bodied with a nice chocolate malt accented backbone. Moderate to heavy roasted essence with a good hop presence in a milky, think chocolate milk, stout body. angrypirate06 (773), Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Dark brown with fair, creamy, tan head / Deep roast cocoa and coffee nose / Medium body, a touch thin, with good balance of malts and hops, with faint sweetness and good, dry finish / Rich, smooth flavors of bittersweet chocolate, oak, roast coffee, and dry hops / A little more ooph in the body and they’ve got something, or it’s a very fine porter. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Bottle. Poured dark brown, with a tan head that leaves a little lace. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee. Taste is fairly straightforward, malt, with some mild bittering. Mouth is medium to light bodied (for a stout). Overall, an okay brew. nbutler11 (761), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours a deep brown color from the bottle with a firm tan head. Smells of dark cocoa and tastes of watery coffee and barley. Balanced and suprisingly drinkable for an organic stout. Slipstream (760), USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Updated: Mar 12, 2008I did not realize this was a Whole Foods exclusive. Shouldn’t it be listed under North Coast Brewing? The head is weak and fizzy, and the nose is sour-sweet and acidic. This is a light-bodied, smoky stout. I can taste chocolate, tobacco, and a little yeast. Mildly hopped, with a light aftertaste. This is pretty tasty, but it is another languid beer from North Coast. I have not yet tried a great organic beer, and I am not sure why that is. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Bottle. Nice stout. Pours dark almost black with a nice head. Aromas of toast, molasses and roasted malts. Flavors of a cocoa, chocolate, a bit of caramel. Has just the right amount of carbonation and body, not overpowering. mcbackus (751), Merritt Island, Florida, USA
