Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

The 12 ounce bottle poured a clear, deep ruby red colored beverage with a modest sized frothy tan head that was mostly lasting leaving good lacing on the glass. The aroma had a strong presence of cherries and dates with notes of coffee and caramel. The body was a bit thinner than I would have liked it with average carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor started out a bit sweet (for a dry stout) and then became unpleasantly bitter.

I remember being intrigued by this concept of NC and WF...so I snagged one. Not great, but a good drinking stout. Brewed for WF so it’s a bigger batch style, being light, with a nice round mix of regular stout flavors. Nice sweet roasty finish.

Good dry stout. Aroma was mainly roasted malt and coffee. Flavor was roasted coffee with hints of nuts and hops. Finish is dry and moderately bitter. Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side.

This beer pours a dark brown with an allright head that faded after some time. It has a smell of olive, and mild fruits mainly berrys. As you drink it there is initialy flavor of berrys on the sides of your mouth and a nice roasted finish. It is an alright beer consideinr it is completly organic and all.

Pours ebony thickness into the glass with a light head. Deep roasted chocolatey malts on the nose, almost milky. A robust toasted malt/chocolate flavor bleeds itself over the palate with hints of vanilla, and caramel. A smokey tang lingers in the back of the throat. The body is milky, with a chewy quality towards the finish. A burnt, lip-licking stout which is a pleasure to drink.

Nice colored dark beige head, but the bubbles are too big to impress me. Nice strong roasted malty flavor and then, all of a sudden- water. What a tease.

Very dar reddish-brown with a medium sized tan head. Chocolate and molasses in the aroma. Flavor of caramel, chocolate, and some roasted coffee which last throughout a moderately long finish.

Quite thin and watery for a stout. For some reason most "organic" beers taste subdued and bland to me.
