Jun 20, 2007 Chocolately, malty aroma. Creamy in a way. Nearly opaque dark brown color with a significant light tan head that certainly sticks to the glass, though it seems unwilling to break into lace. Seems a bit thin bodied. Kind of chocolate malts, with a light undertone of dark roasted malt. The carbonation is very moderate, the feel is near creamy, and there is a decent amount of bitter, especially in the finish. Dry finish. Quite good.

Jun 25, 2008 Pours a not entirely opaque, almost cloudy brown with lots of lace. Bright notes of fresh coffee in the nose, some sea water and candied licorice. Mildly bitter roasted flavours and some nuttiness. Clean, dry, refreshing, bit sweet, tiny bit of acidity in the finish. If I could pick this up at my local supermarket it’d be a treat. Nicely done.

Oct 25, 2005 Seems a bit thin, but there’s flavor there to back it up. Not a huge raosty beast by any means. A Texas stout? I mean it seems like it’s rather easy drinking stuff, but well balanced and with a nice hop finish.

Dec 31, 2006 I like this stout. I wonder if this recipe is the same as Old No. 38, but organic. This beer is light, but favorable. There is a nice balance between coffee, chocolate, and spicy hops.

Jan 7, 2006 Bottle. Black-red color, meduim beige head. Aroma is mocha and chocolate. Bittersweet up front, and chocolate, coffee in aftersate with a dry finish.

Mar 5, 2009 Deep dark brown coloured body with a smallish off-white head. Aroma of heavily roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a hint of prunes. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours throughout with a good sweetness overlayed. The roasty malt characteristics cover the beer nicely and the bitterness and semi-sweetness continue on to the aftertaste efficiently. Overall, a good stout - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia on 31 December 2006.

Jun 12, 2006 Bottle, from Cary Wholefoods. Ok nose, sweet & roasty. Cocolate, little seltzer/chaulky, berry, grape. Clean orangy brown color, small had that faded to a ring with minor lacing. Bitter sweet flavor, like aroma. Nice dry chocolate taste, Little winey & chaulky. Medium body, lite creamy oily mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. A tasty , easy to drink, dry stout.
