Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

Really enjoyed his one. Pours a dark brown/black with a toasted head. Smells wonderful of chocolate, like a chocolate sundae. Taste is also very good, with sweet chocolate, molasses and a bit of anise. Loved it.

$7.49 for a four pack at Broudy’s. I usually avoid anything labeled “low fat” or “organic”, but a beer from North Coast that I haven’t tried was too enticing to pass up. As expected, North Coast delivered a tasty brew. Aroma was dark roasted malt and molasses. Flavors of coffee, molasses, roasty dark malts, and hop bitterness come through. Very good all around. Bold stout flavors, with a slight sourness like you find in a good Irish stout. Very roasty and pronounced coffee character with an earthy hop presence. Finishes dry. Nice!

A nice smooth full bodied brew. Has wonderful toasted oat flavor with a smooth coffee aftertaste. Aroma is nice, but not too powerful. Little head, dark brown body. Not the stoutest of stouts, but pretty good.

Dark mahogany color. Shallow head. Thick lacing. Coffee bean aroma. Taste is acidic with coffee and oats tones. Very nice aftertaste that I can’t quit place. I am often left disappointed by organic brews, but this one was very pleasing.

Dark brown with fair, creamy, tan head / Deep roast cocoa and coffee nose / Medium body, a touch thin, with good balance of malts and hops, with faint sweetness and good, dry finish / Rich, smooth flavors of bittersweet chocolate, oak, roast coffee, and dry hops / A little more ooph in the body and they’ve got something, or it’s a very fine porter.

Pours ebony thickness into the glass with a light head. Deep roasted chocolatey malts on the nose, almost milky. A robust toasted malt/chocolate flavor bleeds itself over the palate with hints of vanilla, and caramel. A smokey tang lingers in the back of the throat. The body is milky, with a chewy quality towards the finish. A burnt, lip-licking stout which is a pleasure to drink.

Pours a medium dark brown with a tan head that leaves substantial lacing. Really nice nose with chocolate, vanilla, caramel and molasses. The flavor is quite the same and slightly coffee like bitterness in the finish. A bit thin in body, but overall enjoyable and underrated.

Very nice chocolatie stout. Rich roasty dark chocolate flavors with a great balance. Smooth on the palate with a good body to it. Pours dark borwn witha small tan head. Very well built stout balancing a good chocolate character with a lightly hoppy bitter finish.
