Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

Winter Welcom Toronto. Sweet aroma of sugared coffee, malt and dark chocolate, darkest brown, ruby at the edges, small toffee head. Taste is a sweet toasted malt, chicory, burnt toast. Medium bodied, very well balanced, sweet, dry and bitter all at once. Terrific. Thanks Radek Kliber.

Bottle. Clear dark brown body. White rum / caramel aroma with just a touch of the dark stuff at the end. Good flavor - a well blended mix of sweet golden raisin-y sweetness with coffee bean roasty chocolate. Just-velvety mouthfeel - compliments the overall strength well. A fine stout!

Paid $1.49 for a 12-oz single at Whole Foods, Charlottesville. Pours clear dark brown with a large brown head. Aromas of bitter toasted malts, caramel, and slight coffee. Lightish flavor, which for some reason, I like in this beer. Cold coffee, caramel, toffee, and not in the slightest bit heavy. Finishes with a coffee bitterness. Nice.

Pours a dark cola with a reddish tint and a medium sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee beans. Taste of roasted malt and coffee beans as well. A nice and simple stout.

Bottle. Nearly opaque body with a thin film of bubbles with great lacing. Nose is light coffee, tree bark, and roastiness. Taste-sharp CO@, roasted wood, char, chocolate powder, coffee, amazingly rich. I was expecting this to be quite thin and watery, but it isn’t. Very full bodied and yummy. Impressive.

Dark bronw almost black. A lot of coffee and roast malt. Nice and sweet yet dry. A little tartness to round it out.

Bottle (12oz). Deep ruby, nearly opaque, nice one inch lasting tan frothy head, nice drapes of lacing (3+). Very dry aroma, bitter chocolate, some coffee, burnt treacle, a fair amount of herbal bitterness. The taste is mostly chocolate and low-level fresh herbal bitterness - simple but damn that’s lovely. Creamy, luscious mouthfeel, sweet and nicely dry in the finish - damn this is good stuff, I’d drink this all the time!
