hopscotch (5135), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2007 Bottle purchased at Bodega Blue... Clear, dark mahogany ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. Nutty, creamy milk chocolate nose. Nice roast. Chocolaty, toasty flavor. Balanced well... not sweet, but not burnt nor bitter. Medium-bodied with a skim milk mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, coffee, lightly bitter finish.
drjay44 (494), Colorado, USA Jun 30, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin mocha head of good duration, with some lacing, over a clear dark brown (SRM 30) body.........nose has coffee, chocolate, toffee, bread, yeast....taste initially is mild roasted malts, then coffee, chocolate, then mild bitter roast accompanied by hop bitterness.......mouth feel is slightly light, but creamy, carbonaion medium. A nice stout, almost oatmeal like in quality Gypsy19 (464), Sacramento County, California, USA Jun 25, 2009 Pours an almost opaque dark brown with a huge head that settles slowly. Aroma is of nicely roasted malts, powdered chocolate, and a little cheap coffee. Flavor is about the same as the aroma, with a slight acidic bite and unexpectedly dry. Mouthfeel is hearty, round finish. Overall, good plus. Saarlander (1553), Saarlouis, California, Germany Jun 21, 2009 Bottle from Daknole, Starts with roasted flavor, very slight sweetness, then finishes very dry, decent, nothing wrong with it, fits the style well. daknole (2143), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 18, 2009 Wow, how the hell have I forgotten to rate this? Funny. Dark brown pour. Tan head. Very roasted aroma. Flavor is also roasty with some cocoa notes. Not bad, but not my style either. Rustyham (335), miami, Florida, USA Jun 15, 2009 Nice colored dark beige head, but the bubbles are too big to impress me. Nice strong roasted malty flavor and then, all of a sudden- water. What a tease. NomDeBeer (327), Maryland, USA Jun 4, 2009 Pours a thin brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is chocolate and light coffee. Taste is mostly chocolate plus a roasted malt finish. Some caramel sweetness in the background too. Thin body with too much carbonation. Drinkable and enjoyable, but unremarkable too. CanIHave4Beers (561), Des Moines, Iowa, USA May 31, 2009 The beer pours with a big tight tan head with a deep almost black color, when held up to the light there is a deep ruby hue. The aroma is good oats, chocolate, chocolate malt, a good roastyness and overall kind of sweet smelling, but nothing over the top. The flavor is drier and bitterer with some good coffee and a little berry like fruitiness, the beer is abounding with earthy hops. This is a very solid stout. ilovedarkbeer (1207), Dallas, Texas, USA May 31, 2009 Bottle thanks to BMan1113VR. Pours a very dark black brown color with a medium to large sized puffy light tan head. Nose is chocolate milk, coffee, little bit of earth, brownie, and some grass. Taste is like a burnt brownie dunked in some milk with a little bit of caramel drizzle. This is actually enjoyable. First organic product that has no ended up in the drain. Well done.
