Cask-conditioned at the White Lion, Bristol 23/1/08. Deep amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of marmalade and earthy hops. Flavours of caramel and red fruit with a decent bitter finish. Good.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Spoons. Aroma isnt great. Strange rusty note. Like the colour, fairly red for the style and the head was reasonably impressive too. Treacle toffee flavours with plenty of malt and a little fruit. Delicately bitter finish. So-so.

Cask at The Pilgrim’s Progress (JDW), Bedford. Amber with a creamy off-white head. Odd metallic yeast aroma. Dark, grainy fruit and malt taste. Pleasant bitterness. Quite good,

Pint on cask at The Prince of Wales (Wetherspoon’s), Cardiff. Slightly hazy dark, ruby body. Thin off-white head. Roasted malty sweetness to the nose. Flavour has got a malty profile with sweet caramel and ending up with a light touch of yeast and hoppy bitterness. More than moderate palate (03.02.2007).

Cask conditioned @ Humble Plumb, Soton. Rich brown colour. Fruity malty aroma - restrained toffee with hints of chocolate and light tangy berries. Fairly sweet and a bit nutty with a full rounded hop finish. Tasty enough for me to go back for another 2 pints.

An unclear dark orange beer with a huge fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of yeast, and so is the flavor, though with the addition of notes of straw.
