sampled at RBSG 04 thx to perkeo for bringing this gem. Pours a clear brown color with a strong toffee aroma. The flavor was slightly sweet. This was quite nice.

Looked like a glass of Coke, but the nose gives off strong molasses and burnt raisins. The body is quite full for a lager beer and this is where the bourbon notes are very present combined with the raisins and molasses. The finish has a warming rich bourbon like kick to it that make it the perfect winter beer (Though I drank it in the middle of July!).

This beer can be well defined by one word: molasses. Very thick and malty with a dark brown color. Interesting beer, very good.

Deep red color. Smallish head. Aroma is molasses and sweet. A very full-bodied bock. Malts are dark fruit, molasses and very sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Extremely smooth and very thick taste. Touch of oak, smoke and bourbon throughout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

My eyes are closed, I'm deep in thought. I walk into a bar named Touche's, for its someones birthday. We order our flaming dr. peppers, and the bar tender pulls out 9 glasses. He proceeds to fill 8 of them half full with some light macro beer. he then places 8 shot glasses on the rims of each adjacent glass, and fills each shot glass with amaretto. then a little bacardi 151 tops off the shots of amaretto. just when things were interesting enough, he proceeds to fill his mouth with 151, spilling some onto his left hand. a borrowed lighter ignites his hand into a vibrant blue flame, and he empties the contents of his mouth through the blue flame, creating a giant fireball which lights each of the 8 shot glasses on fire. Tipping one of the end shot glasses, it falls into a beer, knocking the next shot glass into the following beer. In less than a second, all 8 shots are swimming in the 8 beers. Quickly the "flaming dr. peppers" are distributed amongst the group. Bottoms up and the drink quickly disappears...with the final sip tasting of dr. pepper, hence the name. Concentrate this experience into one sweet, almost syrupy beer, and you have this bourbon bock.

Deep brown/red body. No head at all. WOAH! Big time burbon character, some oaky notes, ripe fruits and a hint of malt sweetness. Big full and smooth, starts out caramely and ends up alcoholic and oaky. Big burbon finish. Rather one dimensional in aroma and flavor. Not a bad beer though, some chocolateyness, spices and smokiness as well. Dominated by the burbon barrels, it's whiskey-like and real warm, but nothing too special.

Had this at the brewery and it is a beer to be savored on a winter night by the fire.

Sweet malt peat and smokey aromas, sweetness but semi-dry to dry, sour flavors with no malt flavors instead dry and dusty. Finishes with a tang. A daring foray for Widmer.
