Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 10, 2005 Cheers to Perkeo for what was billed as possibly the last bottle in existence. Muddy dark amber colour. The aroma was strong bourbon with underlying caramel malts. The palate was sweet. The malts were long and well-extracted. They also had a little earthiness to go with the caramel and this helped the beer survive an onslaught of vanilla notes. Suprisingly, I didn’t hate it, though my opinions were all over the map between aroma, flavour, finish, and balance. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 9, 2005 Sampled bottled at Man Land, Portland Muddy amber, lots of lacing, light head. Nose of bourbon & vanilla, fairly one-dimensional. The flavor is sweet and bourbonesque, more in the nose than the flavor though. Finish tart. Eh, not quite living up to expectations here. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2004 RBSG 2004. Deep red, a little head on this one. Sweet scotch and dark cherries in the nose. Very nice sharp bourbon flavor, overpowering... some roasted nuts, scotch and sharp, very alcoholic flavors. beerguy101 (3468), Newark, California, USA Aug 1, 2003 Deep red color. Smallish head. Aroma is molasses and sweet. A very full-bodied bock. Malts are dark fruit, molasses and very sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Extremely smooth and very thick taste. Touch of oak, smoke and bourbon throughout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 22, 2004 RBSG 2004: Orange ruby with a small head. Sweet malts and light bourbon in the aroma, starts and ends lightly sweet. While a good example of a bourbon aged beer, I felt that there was a tad too much bourbon flavor in it.
