jdp (54), Texas, USA Jul 18, 2007 Bottle from HEB.dated APR0307. Poors a golden amber color, decent white head. Good hop taste with very slight map to the ratio. Nice clean flavor. Decent IPA though I think it could use a bit more hop. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 13, 2007 On tap at Pete’s Lair Tavern in Milwaukie, Oregon. Pours a clear dark golden pale brew with a thin white head thatquickly dissolves to a fine film. Aroma of sour citrus with some orange peel, and light caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated with flavors of roasted caramel malt, some grapefruit zest and some mellon character. (this is different) Finish is slightly sweet with an orange zest aftertaste. HopDuvel99 (39), Tennessee, USA Jul 7, 2007 Hazy amber/gold with a small offwhite head. Aroma is hops with a hint of malt. Full bodied with a creamy/foamy mouthfeel. Sharply bitter, but still some underlying sweetness for balance. Classic west-coast American IPA. Very nice. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2007 Pours a dark orange color with a white soapy head. Smells of hops and malt. Tastes like pears with hops and has a medium bitter finish that is short. Overall decent but there are many better IPAs out there. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2007 @Mountain Beerfest-on tap-pours a disappearing white head and gold color. Aroma is citrus hops-cascade and something else. Taste is citrus hops-cascade and something else, very dry, hint of medium malt. Occasional. OK effervescence. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Jun 20, 2007 An ok brew, starts with plenty of hops, but mellows out quickly with the malt, Some slight citrus, but just abit too sweet for me, drinkable, but I’ll pass next time. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA Jun 11, 2007 It are otay. I may even like it. I may like it far better when it’s on sale or free, but still. It sure as hell isn’t my favorite IPA, but for one that’s now given an affiliation with AB, I suppose that not fully sucking should be equated as a most positive thing? That I’ve had probably a case of this or more and still not seen fit to give this any deeper thought sheds light on my feeling that it rates no better than a middle of the road IPA. See: good if on sale .... Cereviseator (12), USA Jun 8, 2007 Pours a deep gold, slightly hazy with a firm white head. Good lacing. Aroma is a blast of herbal pine. Flavor is quite dry, resiny with hops dominating the palate. Finshes clean and dry. Sort of straddles the line between American PA and IPA. Overall quite fresh.
