KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jan 22, 2007 Tap at Flying Saucer, Houston. Pours an average dark gold with a nice head and clinging lace. Sweet and sour citrus dominate the nose, with a bit of orange tickling the olfactory from the back of the room. Flavors of grapefruit and pine are immediately noticeable, with orange finishing out each sip. Mouthfeel is not as slippery as I would like it to be, but it suffices enough to warrant a mention. A very nice and refreshing IPA, one worth revisiting. chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA Jan 21, 2007 Clear, straw colored pour with a scant white head. Nice citrus hop nose. Lively carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Small amount of citrus hop flavor with a nice hop bitterness in the finish. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jan 18, 2007 Amberish gold, creamy white head. Nicely hopped up nose of pine, juicy grapefruit, and lightly toasted caramel. Had almost a wet-hopped quality to it. Flavor was straight up hoppy bitterness from start to finish, crisp throughout, and just a touch of sweet malt bringing up the rear. Medium body, medium carbonation, bitter non harsh finish. Not the greatest ever, but certainly well done and easily a nice session brew... ilikestuff (222), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jan 15, 2007 About average IPA, nice bitterness, strong bite, a little overcarbonated. Body is a little dull, lacks definition. Good malt character though. Overall average IPA. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jan 9, 2007 Pale gold with some haze and a thin white head. Dank grapefruit zest and urea aroma. Clean, straightforward hop delivery. Nice citrus flavor with balancing malt sweetness and perfect bitterness. Nothing over the top but a well executed IPA. jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2007 Golden color out of the bottle with a diminishing white head. Sharp citrus/grapefruit nose. Sweet grapefruit and orange juice citrus flavors with some buscuit malts. Hot hop burn on the tongue and a long orange peel bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking IPA. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2007 Soapy white head and clear amber-gold body. Aroma of citrus, tea like malt and light sulfurous notes. Medium sweet, lightly toasted caramel flavors with tame bitterness and mild cleansing acidity. Passable beer, but very subdued for an IPA. More like a standard pale ale.
carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 29, 2006 Grabbed off the shelf in Oregon knowing nothing about this one. Was way surprised with it! I’m a big IPA fan and this one pours transparent amber/copper with a medium head. Delicious apricot floral and pine bouquet, sweeter, fruitier tones than some IPAs. Enticing! Found the first sip to be surprisingly crisp and fruity with a nice long bitter finish -- exquisite. Not overwhelmed with acohol flavor or syrupy sweet malts -- pretty darn exceptional for a session IPA in my opinion. Light, gulpable, but true to the style (at the Cascade hop varieties). Try it -- you will like it. 6% alcohol.
