Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

This IPA pours a deep orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and piney hops, touch of caramel fruit. A medium to full bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney and floral and a touch of citrus. Juicy hops. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

A rather middle of the road IPA. A middle amber color with a fine amount of piney hop smell with some caramel malt notes. Tastes slightly hoppy with a few malt notes. Nothing special but a decent aftertaste with a slight hop kick but some yeasty taste to it that wasn’t so pleasent.

bottle 12 oz. This is a last resort only buy. And I mean F’ing LAST RESORT. Enough bittering hops here but minimal hop flavor. The malt tastes cooked and dull and there are traces of a weird menthol flavor which I don’t care for. Alcohol is noticable in this 6%! Piss poor beer for who I don’t know, you can count me out. I will avoid Widmer to the best of my ability from now on.

This is a good IPA. Good and bitter. Really nice aroma. It has lots flavor with a nice pine taste to it. Had the beer for the first time yesterday a Timbers soccer game. Good beer, good soccer and nice weather. Perfect.

<!-- B -->Bottle<!-- /B --> ppours a clear orange light amber, with a small decent sized but quickly receding off white head. Thin sheeting lacing. Aroma is IPA allright, sweet bright and citrusy. Grapefruit, and orange rind. Flavor is not as fruity but a nice up front citrus rind bitterness, closely followe dby the medium malts that round out the flavor profile. The lingering bitterness comes through later and hangs around. A bit soft on the carbonation but it all goes well together. A bit more than I expected from a macro/micro like Widmer.

From bottle bought at a store somewhere between Portland and Ashland, OR. Clear, filtered crisp appearance. Small, white minimal head. Low head retention. Sweet, subdued hop aroma. SRM is very light, very appropriate for the style. Flowery, grapefruit, mango hop flavor with a solid back-of-the tongue hop bitterness. Sweet and caramel, but not so sweet that is lays on your tongue. I’d really like to try this with lower carbonation on hand pump. A bit commercial, a bit sanitized, but as a result it’s balanced, damn tasty and drinkable. Better than you might expect from wheat beer fanatics. Good!

had a bottle of this in seattle over the weekend. poured a copper hue, with a tan off white head. slight grassy flax seed nose. more fresh hops up front and a decent backbone of malt a bit above average and easy to drink. better then i anticipated.

12 oz bottle. Small head. beer is a ’not quite’ clear amber color. Nice pine, floral citrus aroma. Flavor starts with a vanilla sweet malt flavor, followed by citrus, and finishing with a lemony grapefruit hoppiness. Very nice bittersweet aftertaste (a little metallic) that lingers just long enough. Almost tastes bottle-conditioned, am surprised to find that it is not. This is a very good and balanced IPA. VERY UNDER-RATED!...
