Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Gold pour with white head. Nose of citrus from the cascades. Flavor is all cascade up front with a very sweet lemon malt. Finish is watery and slightly hoppy.

Crushed with Jakebra. Not much on the nose. Some weak hops and such. Flavor is pretty nice, lots of hops and malt sweetness, but absolutely no finish. Flavor just dies. But quite drinkable anyway.

12 oz bottle. Small head. beer is a ’not quite’ clear amber color. Nice pine, floral citrus aroma. Flavor starts with a vanilla sweet malt flavor, followed by citrus, and finishing with a lemony grapefruit hoppiness. Very nice bittersweet aftertaste (a little metallic) that lingers just long enough. Almost tastes bottle-conditioned, am surprised to find that it is not. This is a very good and balanced IPA. VERY UNDER-RATED!...

old rating: 7/3/6/4/15 - 3.5. pours a semi-clear yellow-orange, with a very thin head that doesn’t stick around for long, and some lacing. smell of grapefruit, earth, some pine, some citrus, and caramel. taste is a little creamy, slightly bitter, nice balance of hops and malts, some caramel, and just a little sweet, ends with a dryness on the back of the tongue, as it warms becomes less sweet and has more flavor.

2008 Bottle - Light floral aroma of hop flowers, taste is a very nice balance, great bitter hop presence without being too strong, slight malt on the back end, one of Widmers better brews IMHO...

Yet another new IPA surelly a sign Spring is here at last!. Light, bright orange beer in appearance, with a handsome frothy/thick off white head. Light piney hop aromas dominate, slight spicieness but very weak and subdued. After the aroma the taste was a surprise, very hoppy and "tangy" on the first sip quite bitter, it begins to calm down near the end and in subsequent mouthfuls..begiuns to get a little too sweet in fact. Quite a nice mouthfeel, not bad. Not a really bad IPA but it plaes in comparison to Deschutes new release.

Nice brew! Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma is big and citrus. Flavor is all hops, fresh grapefruit for sure. Body is light, finish is nice and bitter. Excellent brew.

12 oz bottle from a variety pack case. A gift from my loving wife on our anniversary: Pale golden color with a small, fading white head. Light grassy and citrus aroma. Fllavor starts with some light caramel sweetness followed by a light citrus bitterness and a dry orange rind finish. Medium body is oily with lively carbonation.
