Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Sweet and fresh citrusy hop nose; bready sweet front end and a quick, bitter finish; creamy body; on the sweeter side for an IPA, but quite drinkable. Good beer, overall.....not terribly interesting, but very good for a Widmer product.

Misty amber pour, nice citrus pine hoppy aroma. Medium sweet, light-medium body, good bitterness balance and overall hop and malt flavors. I liked it and would buy a sixer of this for an everyday beer.

Very decent IPA - Lots of hop flavor mixed with various citrus notes. Solid bitterness throughout the drink. A little too thin thin thin Pretty enjoyable.

(Tap @ JP Hops House): Pours a little head, whitish. .Color of amber red/brown, clear. Fresh hoppy aroma, bitter, weakish. Strong sour bitter taste, grapefruit aftertaste. Bitter sour aftertaste. Too bitter. Warming up, it balances a little better, but still unbalanced bitter.

9/23/07 On draught at Fremont Oktoberfest, Seattle. Aroma is an even blend of malt, grass and presumably cascade hops. Appearance is clear gold with a low off-white head. Flavor is definitely more hop forward with good earthy bittering and a solid sweet malt background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium/high carb texture. Overall, just needs a bit better blending in the flavors, but I could see this being attractive to hop heads.

12 oz bottle served in shaker- poured transparent light copper color, lively medium carbonation, 3 mm white bubbly head formed, stayed, and laced to a minimal effect. Mild aroma of floral hops and a light carmel malt. Hits the mouth with a low-medium body, malt is there and has been very lightly sweetened, pine comes form the front and lingers, middle the pine is more strong, finish is slightly acidic. It’s not bad, but I like my IPA’S with a little bit more strength to them in the malt and hops department. Easy sipper.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a very little white head. This one had a very stong citrus aroma with hints of vanilla. The taste was fruity with a nice dry finish. a very good IPA.
