Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Mild floral hops aroma w/ some sugary skunk coming through. Nice malty nose with a typical hoppy finish. Everything about this brew is mild, and that makes it a fairly average beer. I can’t say I can find anything wrong with this beer, but I don’t know if I will try it again.

finally the dark golden look of an ipa.... not much aroma at all except for some mild citrus... the aroma is nice and sharp with some bitter lemon that lingers on the tongue

Clear, straw colored pour with a scant white head. Nice citrus hop nose. Lively carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Small amount of citrus hop flavor with a nice hop bitterness in the finish.

This brew has a very small head in the glass, almost flat, with a nice golden color. The smell is hoppy, bitter, like that of the inside part of a grapefruit peel. First taste is just like the aroma, and seems to have more body than it actually has. It tastes like an IPA but the taste is a thin and disappears quickly with a strange saltiness. There is also lingering, slightly sticky sweetness, with some warmth and bitterness. Overall, not bad at all, and fairly complex in taste. Not great, not my favorite IPA, but certainly a good introduction, as someone said earlier.

Pours golden with tight white head that fades away but leaves good lacing. Fair amount of co2. Some grapefruit, pine and grassy notes in the aroma. Good caramel flavor from the malt with moderate to high bitterness level and good aroma. Pretty smooth as far as IPAs go. Good not great.

12 oz bottle. Re-rank. Last time I reviewed this, I had a nasty cold and didn’t feel I was doing the beer justice. I can actually smell now, by golly! Aroma of grain, grapefruit--still a little faint for this beer. Pours golden with little head, subpar lacing. Taste is peppery, just slightly bitter. Kind of watery; medium carbonation. Overall, a pretty average IPA. This brewery is funny. I’m more into IPAs than ambers, yet I think their amber is better than their IPA.
