Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

12oz bottle. Medium orange color with a thin film of white head. Juicy candied citrus and pine hop aromatics. Citric metallic, tropical fruit, and lemongrass hop flavors up front. Unobstrusive caramel malt base balances a bracing herbal bitterness. Lingering vegetal hop components, some bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is a light medium, somewhat dry.

I really like this one, it’s a solid IPA in my opinion. Nice and bitter, but not so much to keep you from enjoying it. The description lists a citrus flavor, and while this is definitely true, the flavor is subtle and gives the beer a refreshing taste. Recommended for sure.

On tap at brewery in Portland. Clear amber yellow. Greta hop nose and aroma, caramel sweetness, well balanced. Very good IPA

This is by far the most interesting beer available at the corner store between work and home, so it is a common Friday night brew for me. 12oz bottle poured into weizen glass. Pith of grapefruit dominates the nose. This is about as much hops as I can enjoy. Stays sharp and refreshing as it warms. Malts recede. Pretty well exemplifies the style for me, and I like it. POSTSCRIPT: Absolutely does NOT pair with Vietnamese dried cuttlefish snacks!

This is a really good India pale ale. Its definetly a grapefruit flavored beer. The flavor is bold and big. Not as bitter as some ipa’s, so if thats your thing, you might want to look here. Its internation bitterness unit scale(IBUscale) is up there in the 40s no doubt.

Bottle. I like my IPA’s just a little more hopped, but this one is still not bad at all. Poured a cloudy gold with a medium white head and average lacing. Nice citrus and floral nose with a little bit of a grassy touch, and a great mouthfeel. Nice bitter finish. Really well balanced and quite drinkable and refreshing.

Mild IPA, not over hopped. Drinkable, sharable, and made for a wide target.

12oz bottle. Good pine and floral aromas hit the nose. Copper body with good head. Mild dry ipa but enough sweet citrus sugar jucice in the flavor. Refreshes the palate good beer.
