Commercial Description:
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Bottle (thanks argo0). Copper colored, medium off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma of hops (and lots of ’em), grapefruit, citrus, grapes?. Flavor is hoppy also, nice malt balance, even with the crap-ton of hops. Finish is malty (not all that dry), and I can taste the caramel in the end. Excellent beer, with not a lot of alcohol. And to think, I thought they only made hefes.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a very little white head. This one had a very stong citrus aroma with hints of vanilla. The taste was fruity with a nice dry finish. a very good IPA.

My initial poor rating of this IPA was due to the fact that I rated it at the onset of an acute viral infection that laid me low for 4 days. Pours an orange yellow with a minimal head and almost no lacing. Citrus aroma with some sweet undertones. The hops are subdued at first, making room for a clean bright taste to develop before asserting themselves with a flourish. All this happens within the first 2/3 of a swallow. Not a bad accomplishment. Aftertaste is clean and bitter. I’m glad I gave this a second shot.

Pours a deep gold, slightly hazy with a firm white head. Good lacing. Aroma is a blast of herbal pine. Flavor is quite dry, resiny with hops dominating the palate. Finshes clean and dry. Sort of straddles the line between American PA and IPA. Overall quite fresh.

Pale golden brown. A good amount of foam. Medium/weak hop aroma. Good strong hop flavor that is refreshingly light. A little funky dirty, sweet aftertaste. Overall a tasty brew.

Bites at first a little bit, as a usual IPA would... but finishes extremely clean and leaves the palate hanging with slight fruity feel. The balance between the hops and smooth flavor is undeniable as you can never really have a bad sip of this overall satisfying beer, regardless of the temperature of the beer. There are better IPA’s out there, but you can never go wrong with this beer and being an Oregonian I get it more often than not.
