Good burst of pine hop aroma, clear dark caramel, minimal head. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and the hops dominate. So I guess I’m rating this mostly on what I look for in an amber, not a pale. Still tasty and I’d drink more.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a 2 finger dense cream head and spotty lacing. Nose is mostly pine hops. Taste is caramel malt, pepper and resin. Medium mouth feel. Pretty good stuff.

On tap at Luckys. Has a dark cloudy amber wiith a medium light tan head. The aroma is a light hop with grapefruit and citrus. Tastes more like an IPA than an amber with citrus and a nice sweet hop finish. A complex amber ale from Widmer Bros.

Poured a deep copper color with a small off-white head. Strong grapefruit hop aroma. Some alcohol notes. Bitterness starts fairly quickly. Short malty beginning. Some nutty notes. Grapefruit flavor in the middle then all bitterness for a long dry finish. The malt and sweetness opens up a good bit as the beer warms up

(12oz. bottle, courtesy of ilovedarkbeer) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of Pine-Sol, grass, caramel, toasted grain, and citrus. Flavor of hops (pine, earthy), caramel malt, and a hint of cinnamon.

Was this an amber, really? It doesn’t fit the usual profile--it is so hoppy (lovely grapefruit and pine), so strong (abv), and so well rounded with malty foundations, I thought it must be a double IPA or something. It is definitely a fine beer. As the first beer I drank since Dec. 26th, I raised my glass in a toast of honor to John Django, newborn son of Jazz88--may there be a great life ahead for you, one that conceivably could take you to the next century, in the year 2100. That’s pretty mind-blowing to me.

Bottle thanks to ilovedarkbeer. Smell is hops, grapefruit, other fruits, and pine. Look is amber color not much head. Taste is pine, fruity, grapefruit, and some malts. Ok.

Very pleasantly surprised. I have come to have a distrust of Xmas beers, but when a ccoworker mentioned it being rather hoppy I decided to give it a try. Had one and nearly downed it followed by opening another and then another. Do I need description beyond that? Not best beer ever, just darn good and session beer for those that are heading to get way sloshed.
