Draft at the brewery tap. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is buttery combined with notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is super sweet with notes of vanilla and chocolate. Too sweet for my liking.

From Gasthaus in NE Portland (Widmer Bros)--Poured a deep black, slightly brown body with a medium-sized beige-gray head. Nose of thick sweet chocolate syrup. Flavor was like an ice cream topping. Thick and nutty. Sweet and mildy chalky. Only served in 10oz. glass, and after a taste, it is apparent why (even though it is only 5.5% ABV). Seemed a little artificial and quite thick.

On Tap at the BrewPub Tawney clear full lasting dense tan head and nice lacing. Big almond and chocolate aroma. Quite sweet malty flavor with plenty of sweet milk choc flavor.

Tap @ Gausthaus: Pellucid ebony, thick tan head, nose of caramel and butterscotch some nutty caramel and nugget. The flavor isn’t nearly sweet, some extract alcohol and a bit more of the nuggetty butterscotch notes. A lot of those dark caramel notes.
