Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Bottle on 06/14/2009. Clear copper amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Sweet citrus and resiny hop aroma. Sweet caramel flavor with some light citrus and faint resiny hop notes. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Aroma of citrus especially grapefruit and hops. Dark amber color with a little head with nice lacing on my glass. Grapefruity, hoppy taste that was refreshing. A nice pale ale. "

Had a draught at a local establishment that arrive with little head retention. Probably sat for a minute or two before finding my table. Its crystal clear amber appearance, coupled with its citrus and slightly floral hop aroma made me want to dive into the pint. A sip affirms the hop character, and reveals a well balanced ale. A bit thin, but refreshingly crisp, this brew is very session worthy.

Draught: This one pours a clear amber color with a decent sized off-white head. It leaves some lacing down the side of the glass. The aroma is interesting. There are grassy, earthy hops and another aroma in there it too. Others have said spruce, but I think it almost smells like a whiff of mint. The same characteristic translates into the taste. It is slightly bitter, with a decent body. The earthy and grassy hops are there, but so is the other hop note. Maybe it is psychological from the aroma, but I get a faint taste of mint.

Bottle. Pour is a coppery orange with a little bit of head and aromas of orange blossoms and spruce trees. Flavor is pretty darn good, but not near full enough. The sweet orange-ness goes well with the pine finish, but it needs more oomph to keep it from being watery. Still, this is a pretty decent surprise.

A very tasty pale ale. Nice and smooth with a nice balance of hops. Almost an IPA with the hop content, but just enough malt to keep it clean. Pours light golden with a short head.

Copper pour with a thin offwhite head. Aroma is citrus and a bit of malty goodness. Taste is strong citrus and some biscuity malt, very suprisingly good, nice citrus hop and some solid malt balance. very enjoyable.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours copper with gold edges and thin tan head. The aroma is modest in its crystal malt and citrus hop qualities. The taste is similar with sweet crystal malts and citrus. Flavorful pale ale.
