Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Solid copper, lasting white head. Aroma is toasty, fruit, caramel malt, spicy hops, citrus hops. Taste is fruit, toffee, caramel, solid malt base and a citrus hop finish. Very nice APA.

Bottle pours a dark copper color with a thin, unremarkable head. Aroma is heavy in peach and apricot, with slight notes of pineapple and pine. The flavor is peach, citrus, caramel and a certain sweat quality. The overall body is moderate and soft, with a nice bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a brownish copper color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Nice fresh hop aroma with lots of citrus and tropical fruit notes. The taste is slightly nutty with strong caramel notes and a bitter citrus hop finish. Medium bodied,

Pours from 12 oz bottle a nice medium dark coppery amber hue, forming medium to thin head of foam.. Aroma appearent of citrus, pineapple tones along with a slight tropical flower smell. Flavour was thin, yet tasty, pinapple resins, mango, caramel malts and a tinge of hops balance this beer out. Very quenching beer, overall decent, and a great value in terms of price and flavour. A surprise..........

On draft at woody’s. Pours a nice clear deep amber with good light tan head. Magnificent pineapple citrus hop aroma. Too bad the flavor can’t hold up. It’s okay for a pale, with a decent malt to balance, but has a slightly metallic penny quality, and a lemon pledge. But not bad, just a few weird flavors on the finish detracts from the overall flavor. Thin and soft on the palate. I’d drink it again

On tap. Nice amber pour. Great hop presence o the aroma and flavor - west coast floral and citrus hops. however, about 2/3 of the way through this beer, it started to taste a bit watery and plain.

This was purchased at Whole Foods in Richmond. The APA was good but not special. The head was smallish and disappeared. The color was an attractive slightly clear amber. The finish was smooth and a hint of bitterness. The APA had a medium body with some sweetness. This is a drinkable APA but not remarkable. I purchased a 6 pack at Total Wine and adjusted my rating. It is milder than I remmeber.
