Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of peach as well as light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of peaches as well as light notes of hops. The body is thin. Thanks to Michael Jordan for this beer.

7/19/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is earthy hops forward with a slight caramel balance. Appearance is clear copper with a well maintained off-white head. Flavor is sweet/sour malt forward with medium starchy bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, starchy, with a grainy medium carb texture. Overall, well made, but I’m not quite sure how this wins awards.

Poured from tap a light orange-yellow with medium sized off-white head. Aroma is light floral hop with a touch of citrus. Flavor is mildly bitter with a floral hop bite, soft gratefruit, and malt. A slight off flavor is detectable - something like cooked cardboard, but nothing too distracting. Palate is dry, light bitter, slightly malty, and a touch watery in the body. Overall, an easy sipping beer with ok flavor.

This copper ale poured with a decent beige head. There is a nice balance of malt and hops resulting in a mellow flavor. There is slight carbonation and a little hop bite at the finish.

Draft - Widmer - 2007 A great beer with a golden color, clear. Loved the flavor of this plae ale. A great beer for the masses. Smooth and a good mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Draft at Widmer Brothers BC, Portland, OR. Small ivory head that was mostly lasting, decent amount of lacing, transparent, no visible carbonation, and an orange hue. Nose was hoppy, fruity and sweet. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and light-medium body. Nicelly balanced, quaffable and worthy of a try.

Beautiful amber color. Very nice aroma, hoppy and fruity and with sweet wood resins. The body is quite thin, with some caramel flavor (not much interesting so far), but the hopping is very good: bitter, fruity and resiny, very balanced. Something is missing (the body), but it’s pleasant.
