Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Had it on tap and it was fabulous, very good tasting (not overpowering) hop flavor, like Stone Levitation Ale, about a 4.9. On my way home I stopped off at the store and bought a 6 pack of it, which unfortunately tasted nothing at all like it did on tap. The bottled variety had a yucky overpowering lemony/juniper taste and was one of the worst beers I’ve ever dumped out, a 1.0! My advice is to only buy it on tap & to always insist on a sample first.

Not a bad offering here, at all. Pours a nice amber into the glass, with a fluffy head that leaves generous circular-ring lace. The nose is of a spiced-pine floral hop. The flavors are just slightly this side of underdone. They have some nice citrus notes upfront, light toast in the mid-palate, malt throughout, and a small pine finish. The flavors, as far as the mouthfeel is concerned, are somewhat underdone and light, with a medium-light body. This is a very good brew, and one that was a nice surprise.

Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense GBBF 09. A mid brown to chestnut coloured beer with no head. The aroma is long and hoppy with good fruits. The taste is nice and fruity hoppy too with some sweet berry notes. Easy drinking but needs a touch more depth.

On tap. Pours a golden amber with a thin white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of grassy piney hops with a hint of caramel. Body is light with just a hint of carbonation. Taste is light yet full flavored. Good mix of bready malts and grassy hops with a hint of grapefruit.

Draft pint at O’Bannons, College Station. Light golden-amber with a small lasting head. Nose is lots of grapefruit, caramel and resin with some light catspray. Flavor is the same with some hints of toasted nut and dry grain. Dry and mostly smoothly carbonated. Nice session ale.

Appearance: nice shade of ruby-amber, clear, crystal shine, mid top. 4-
Nose: great nose, plenty of citric hops , fresh peachy-mango feel. Classic West Coast. 8-
Flavor/Palate : Oily , thick bodied, yet not overweight. Smooth , clean malts with clean fresh hops. Neat mild citrus , superbly blended into harmonious bitter brew. Well rounded. Truly great session.

Cask@GBBF2009. Amber colour, not much of a head. Aroma is lots of red berries, alcohol, fruits and some wooden notes as well. Flavour is fruits, wood, some nectar, sap and mildly berryish notes.

Thin copper color on the pour. White head. Some lacing. The aroma was thin citrus and pine. The flavor was citrus and fruity that are cut short by a sharp pine and metallic flavor. The mouthfeel is thin, the finish succinct.
