Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

A clear amber beer with a small, dissipating off white head. Aroma is very nice fruity and flowery hops, but I’m afraid the taste doesn’t back it up. Quite watery, with just a bit of hop bitterness. Not nearly as much of a malt backbone as the appearance would seem to suggest.

Tasted at Beer Dabbler event in St. Paul. I really like this pale ale. Classic pin and grapefruit with a bit extra malt, nut and sweetness. Dry finish.

12 oz. bottle. LIght but pleasant citrus aroma. Pours a rich copper with a nice cream head. Pleasant aroma builds you up but the beer just dies on the tongue. Very light malt and citrus flavor. Even balance of not much malt and not much citrus. Light body with a thin texture but nicely carbonated. Soft and lively on the tongue. Finishes extremely crisp. It’s not bad but it doesn’t bring anything that would make me want to buy it again.

12 oz. amber pour from bottle. The word balance comes to mind. Great balance of hops and citrus give this beer a smooth, refreshing taste. Nothing is out of balance; everything in just the right measure. Excellent.

Draft at the local with dinner. First taste is hoppy followed by a guava fruitfulness. Body is medium but just. Thin watery finish. Decent short-lived tan head.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a small beige head. Taste is of citrus, hops, pine, caramel and some malt. Is a little sweet. Similar aroma. Slightly thin. Bitter finish and aftertaste. Easy to drink. Not bad, but not great either.

Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Clear medium amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20090804]

A sweet malty aroma. An amber color with faint white head. A light body with faint maltiness and mild hop.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a meidum sized orange-tan head. The aroma was strong floral, grapefruit and pine. The flavor was bitter, tart and fruity with notes of grapefruit, pineapple and lemon and an undertone of light sour nutty malths. The finish was long, dry, bitter and hoppy. Medium body. Good.
