Commercial Description:
A creamy, flavorful Amber that's smooth and easy to drink. Drop Top is fermented by an American Ale yeast to produce beer with a clean flavor and fruity aroma. The velvet texture is from the use of Honey malt and a touch of milk sugar. The Magnum bittering hops provide soft bitterness, while Simcoe, a newly developed hop variety, adds unique hop flavor and aroma.

Draft at Widmer Brothers BC, Portland, OR. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, no carbonation observed, transparent, and a golden hue. Nose was sweet, fruity, malty, note or two of hops, and a hint of caramel. Flavor was sweet, honey malty, fruity, mildly hoppy, slightly bitter, and clean tasting. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Light body. Decent, easy drinking brew. Nothing outstanding was noted about this brew as it’s not a bad brew, just eh.

12 oz. bottle - Pours a clear amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Faint spotty lacing. Has a faint floral hop aroma. Flavor is light toasted malt and just enough hops for balance. Medium body. There is nothing wrong with this beer, its just that nothing sticks out that says there is anything good. A decent, drinkable session beer. Worth a try.

On tap at university chicken. Not much flavor to notice, same with the flavor. Some honey sweetness is apparent, almost no hops present at all. GOes down easy and smooth but really doesn’t taste like much at all. the amber appearance doesn’t look much different than a darker pale ale also. I’d rather have a newcastle and I barely like that stuff at all. This was really boring.

Draft: Amber colored pour with medium sized head. Malty, sour aroma with a bitter, sweet malty finish. This was ok.

12 oz beer. Wow, this was terrible. Aroma of caramel. Dark amber color, weird, creamy mouthfeel. Flavor was brown sugar and caramel, and not much else. Very very light hop flavor. I suspect that this is aimed at the ladies. Or, the boys without the gonads.

Should almost be called a cream Amber if there is such a thing. Very Milky mouth but a nice fruity sweet finish. Not bad.

I will never drink this again because I am lactose intolerant. Creamy, nutty, honey sweet body with a floral aromatic presence. Not that good.

Pours a nice head, with decent lacing. Nice copper/amber color. Definitely a creamy texture on the palate to it, almost like I am drinking milk. Aroma has a slight funk to it but it goes away after it warms which then changes to a toasty bread aroma. Not sure if I like the creaminess of this brew. I probably won’t purchase again.
