| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Pours a nice head, with decent lacing. Nice copper/amber color. Definitely a creamy texture on the palate to it, almost like I am drinking milk. Aroma has a slight funk to it but it goes away after it warms which then changes to a toasty bread aroma. Not sure if I like the creaminess of this brew. I probably won’t purchase again. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA

This beer is a pale orange-amber color with a medium thin and bubbly off-white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Mild malt aroma with underlying hops. Medium-bodied yet watery at times, with caramel malt, nut and light hops flavors. The finish is sweet and malty and short-lived, leaving just a hint of hops aftertaste. Yawn. Has a sweet, honey/lactose flavor to it. Nice use of hop’s.....I purchased several six packs over a couple of months but I kinda got tired of it....Will buy again in the future. mjg74 (1999), La Mesa, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Bottle from BevMo. Light amber color upon pouring. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Sweet fruity flavor with a hint of hoppiness. Nothing to get excited about. darbish (81), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2007 strange smell. almost uric. looks like it should and has a thin head. a sweet beer, tastes like a honey ale. I don’t care for honey ales, unfortunately. It was fairly hoppy, but they weren’t able to overpower that foul sweetness. Also, I couldn’t get past the smell of the beer. Not horrible, but Widmer has better offerings. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 11, 2007 An alright Amber Ale, hoppier than I expected it to be and a little too bitter for my taste. Pours a dark amber color into the glass.
On tap. GlenVargas (120), El Paso, Texas, USA

As much as I would like to be snob about things, Drop Top is a serviceable amber. The Bud Girls actually recommended it to me the other night...I guess they’re not as stupid as they look. Anyways, Drop Top isn’t going to give you as much flavor or hoppiness as a craft amber, but it’s highly drinkable. Not a bad option at all.
