Very light malt aroma and flavor with a metalic finish. retrofade (3), USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2005 One of the better ambers that I’ve tried. Slightly bitter with a taste of fruit and caramel. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Well, it’s amber with a light off white head and some sparse lacing. Eh, it’s got a wet cardboardy smell to it, along with a touch of citrus and bitter hops. Slightly malty. The flavor has a bit of biscuit and caramel to it. There is a touch of fruity hops along with the bitter. A little touch of alcohol comes through. It is fairly thin and finishes with that wet cardboard flavor and some fruit. The mouthfeel is thin with very subtle hints of caramel and grapefruit. The tastes are not up front - they trail. Gromit (461), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 2, 2005 I’m ticked. I picked up a sixpack of the W’05 and some bastid stuck one of these in there.
Full disclosure; I’m not a big Amber fan, but this is just crap.
Aroma isn’t typical, it smells more like a Macro like Bud than anything else. Appearance is like a darker Macro. Flavor is pretty much characterless with hints of corn, but no typical Amber sweetness. Palate is...well, you get the picture. Overall? HA! Widmer *can* make some good beers, however, with the very notable exception of the W’05, they don’t bottle anything worthwhile. I want my money back.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2005 I first had this beer at a Widmer tailgate party at the U of Oregon spring football game, and I must say that I was impressed. It’s obviously not going to be a perfect ten, but for a tailgater, a BBQ, anytime with good, greasy food. A bit spendy, but Oregon beer has a reputation that allows the price. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 2, 2004 Rarely does beer drinking leave me feeling bored. Somehow this did. Typical honey malt, a smoothness that was just unecessary - doing little more than causing the drinker to forget they were drinking at all. Normal aroma, usual appearance, generic flavor. Widmer has successfully created another bland beer. Congratulations.
