TimE (1016), Tokyo, Japan Jan 12, 2004 A huge 10% ABV Brown Ale that is complimented by a huge ginger nose and sugar cane. The body is dominated, but not overly so, by fresh ginger, molasses, sugar cane followed by a well rounded spicy ginger finish. An excellent winter warmer. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 29, 2004 Tap @ Gasthaus for RBSG 04’ Auburn mahogany with off-white head & some lacing. The aroma is full of caramel & ginger, light floral hops too, comes across spicy and herbal. The flavor is full of alcohol feel and a moderate body & sweetness. The finish is spicy & herbal too with lots more ginger. The ginger really takes the front spot here and balances everything out nicely. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Aug 3, 2004 RBSG 2004 on tap at the brewpub: Clear orange/red color with a small white head. Very light hops and rich sweet ginger in the aroma. Ginger taste, and finish. An interesting beer, but I’m not sure that I’d ever want more than one. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Aug 1, 2003 Dark appealing color. Strong and sweet ginger aroma. Huge ginger taste. Alcohol and ginger float out the nose. Who knew Widmer could be so creative, and good? Strongest beer at OBF I think. cigarsnbeer (146), Valley City, North Dakota, USA Aug 13, 2004 WOW, this is one strong and wacky beer. The ginger doesn’t overpower the beer, in fact it complements it nicely. I had this one at the brewfest in Portland, I’d like to see this on bottled, so I can get it here in the boon docks
