Gromit (449), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2005 Blah. Typical of a Widmer brew: average at best.
So, appearance is mahogany, aroma is faint yet malty, flavor is, well, blah, but right on for style even if bland. Palate is crisp. Overall, boring. I admit it’s not my favorite style, but even at that it’s lame.
buckyp (22), Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA Oct 12, 2008 Clear, toffee color pour with small light caramel head. No lacing and head dissipated quickly. Nice malty aroma with slight hops undertone. Warm malty palate with just the slightest hops bitterness as I finished glass. Enjoyed it thoroughly for a seasonal beer. SamGamgee (593), Santa Cruz, California, USA Oct 4, 2008 12oz bottle. Rich amber color with a lasting head. Cinnamon, plastic, caramel, and pine in the aroma. Sweet toffee and caramel, with a sprucy finish. Medium, syrupy body. I want a real oktoberfest... Sparky27 (604), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with one finger light tan head and ok lacing. Nose is sweet malt and yeast. Taste is sweet malt, toffee and some fruitiness in the finish with a very minor hop taste. Medium mouth feel. Meh, pretty boring. jujubeast6000 (503), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 24, 2008 (Draft @ Gingerman, HOU): Pours an amber brown, body somewhat opaque. Big creamy light tan head. Good lacing. Grape juice aroma, some maltiness. Somewhat malty taste, almost sour aftertaste. Some grapey foretaste. Some balance, but more on the malty side. Pretty good session beer. timfoolery (361), California, USA Sep 24, 2008 Slightly hoppy version of the ever-popular Oktoberfest! This one was very crisp and pretty malty. I wouldn’t say it was thin, but it was thinner than most of the genre. Light and carmelly.
