Barley aroma, almost overpowering with pine and fruit. Full malt flavour, caramel, and sweetness. Lasting sweet finish. This was pleasant, but I’d only want one at a time.

I drank this beer next to a girl who told me she went on one date with a brewer at Widmer who asked her what she thought about his beers... She had to tell him she thought they sucked. Luckily this beer doesn’t suck. Light brown with pink highlights. Pine hops and dark fruit aroma. Slightly sweet flavor a little caramel, red fruits, some vanilla. Body is too light and not rich enough. Average barleywine at best. robertjm (413), El Cerrito, California, USA

Very foamy head. Definite hop flavor. While not as huge as Bigfoot, this definately leans heavily towards the hop end of the spectrum. Body felt more like an IPA than a heavier barleywine. Garnet color. Hops still lingering on the palate even after a few minutes. Will definately cross my lips again sometime!! Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

Pours clear deep gold with copper core and nice off white head. The mild aroma has notes of dark fruitiness, some sweet malts and floral hops. The taste is very much to English barleywine style to me with rich chewy dark fruity esters coming from prunes, cherries and ripe plums. It slowly takes on sweet malts and a hint of caramelization. Nice brew that is right on the mark now.

Aroma is rich with caramel, raspberry, watermelon, molasses and a candy character similar to airheads. Appearance is clear copper with a well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is rich, candy sweet with light alcohol and even lighter watermelon. Mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, slightly warm, with a very low carb texture. Overall, very good, and with great sweet complexity. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2006 Courtesy of JCW. Transparent maber with minimal off white head, fades to a ring of film rather quickly. Great lacing. Sweet caramel malt up front with roasted grains and alcohol in the nose. Flavor is very sweet. All caramel and toffee up front, fades to a bready/cardboard middle with a huge alcohol kick in thw finish. Sticky-oily mouthfeel. Very nice brew would be alot better if the alcohol wasn’t so prominent. Big thanks to John for the rarity!!
