Bottled. Dark brown colour, brown head. A beauty to look at! Sausage aroma. Thick body, full flavour and some smokiness. Very soft mouthfeel. Compact. Extremely thick flavour without straggling flavour compounds and complexity. Not hoppy. Much coffee. Good sipping beer. Good beer!!

Bottled. Dark brown colour, almost black. Pretty big, brown head. Tar dominates the aroma, also there is toast malt and surprisingly - almond paste, which is often more found in blonde beers such as bocks or barley wines. Tarry, burnt flavour with fatty mouthfeel, leaning towards coffee. Chocolate is not even noticed. Bit fiery and pretty thick but not very complex, which is not a drawback at all. Great beer!

Really enjoyed this one. Thanks Svend! Quality black, rather than semi dark. Nice interesting palate, just that added interest from a mid palate aroma. Mid bodied, quite drinkable rather than a Knife and Fork beer. Smoke in the mouth, but not on the nose? Why doesn’t carlsberg sell this in the UK!!!! Madness.

Pitch black with a fine brown head. Aroma is roasted malts - chcocolate, coffee , smoke & caramel toffee. Easy smoke, liquirice & bitter dark coffee. Texture is medium filling & very smooth. Good lasting finish. Nice!

Bottled (Thanks JensenTaster!). Pitch black, or enormously dark brown, opaque colour, small white head. Aroma is malts, slight roast and smoke. Flavour is strong smoke, roasted malts, coffee and alcohol. Very mouthdrying. Aftertaste is roasted malts, smoke and aftera while a lot of ashes. Quite dry. Wellbalanced, but the ashyness is almost too much...

Almost pitch black color, small brown head. Smokey and roasted aroma. hints of smoked ham. Starts with notes of vegetables, then roasted malts and dark coffee. Finish is alcoholic, roasted and followed by long smoked and roasted aftertaste. This one has potential, but it is not my instant favor.

I have looked very much forward to this pitch black beer with the brown, creamy head. The aroma reveals roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of smoke. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour is smooth with notes of licorice, chocolate, preserved fruits, roasted malt, coffee and the bitterness is nice and harmonic. Yummi - what a nice big beer at a little price. 1983

Dark brown, almost black with a tan head. Malty with roasted tones. Lots of coffee, chocolate and some caramel. Full bodied with a nice bitter finish.
