Deep black pour with brown highlights and a thin light brown head. Aroma of soy sauce with sweetness. The mouth is dominated by the powerfull roasted malt, there’s chocolate too and bitterness in the finish. The body is light with a vinous texture and soft carbonation.

330ml bottle (bb.18.03.08) picked up at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen some months ago. Presents itself with a dark brown, dense head with nice round dimples supported by good laceworks. Devil dark body. Dark cocoa to the nose plus a peaty touch. Sophisticated mocha malty taste followed by smooth roasted grain with some bitterness pushing through in the ending. Masked alcohol. Full bodied (29.12.2007).

Bottle from Theis. Big, salty, rich plummy aroma. Balanced and rich in the flavor, very smooth and creamy. Goes down very easy, but begins to fade a little as it warms. I’d recommend drinking this one rather quick, but fresh out the bottle it’s awesome.

bottle off the shelf, probably only few months old max. wow. You could eat this for breakfirst. tastes like coffe, just much better. If you are into heavy beers, this one is not to miss. Tastes lots more than just the average low-cost beer. I’m going to have a stash of these. it’s thick, the head looks real nice, not so high, very brown. Aftertaste is fantastic and lingers for long. Almost makes me wait for the next sip just to enjoy the feeling. The high alc adds power, but in a stylish way- it’s not like the 8.2% is in the way, it’s just argumenting the intensity of it. Very dark beer. probably darker than coffee.

bottle thanks to Papsoe. Pours a dark brown-black with thin, light brown head which dissipated almost immediately except around the rim. Had some lacing. The aroma was roast coffee with a hint of cocoa. Flavor is similar to the aroma with coffee and a hint of cocoa. This is unlike many other imperials in that it is not as bold or harsh; lot smoother. Mouthfeel is medium but coats the tongue and leaves a dry aftertaste. Much more drinkable than many Impy stouts because of it’s smoothness.

Bottle, five years old. Gorgeous appearance. An opaque ultra-deep brown body is dusted with glowing crimson hints. A finely lacing head is tan, slowly diminishing and creamy. Smokey roasted grains lead in the nose, followed by heavy soy, matted greens and oxidation. This has developed into a really interesting reinterpretation of its former self. Coffee and roasted malts are full strength and suitably mask what seems it wopuld otherwise be hefty amounts of oxidation. The flavor is highly roasty, moderately bitter, lightly warming from alcohol, mildly sweet and lightly astringent. Finishes heavily roasty, with mild chocolate and scorched coffee lingering. Hops in the finish are still evident at this grand old age. The mouthfeel is jagged but drinkable. Very tasty. This seems like an intended blend of the subtle nuances of a traditional Baltic porter and the outlandish eccentricities of a proper, old-school English(original, Russian style) imperial stout.

Poured an opaque nearly completely black color. Aroma is unexpected. Redolent of Grahm crackers, smoke, tar, some roasted coffee and grain. Flavor starts off just as odd, the oxidation is apparent. I really want to get my hands on a fresher botte.

33cl bottle, with thanks to sunevdj. Pours a nice dark brown that sits deep black in the glass, thick pillowy dark brown head that lingers, decent lacing. Aroma is quite full, with espresso roast, milk chocolate, molasses, a good amount of smoke, and some subtle soy. Flavor has lots of roast, with more coffee, chocolate, molasses and some dark fruits coming out. Enjoyable and warming on a cold night!
