An intriguing nose suggested sweet black beans and quality soy until heavily roasted malts and their bready undertones quickly burned the back of the palate. Well put together and highly flavorful, it sadly goes overboard in the finish and thus reduces my enjoyment quite drastically.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brown-sleeved black.
-The smooth carbonation helped drinkability, but that roasty bitterness was somewhat excessive.
-Didn’t get much of the yeasty fruitiness I’d associate with the Baltic Porter style...
-Paired with a duck rillette, it actually grew better, as the fat lended some backbone to the brash roastiness.

Smagen er ikke så gennemtrængende, men er dog yderst behagelig. Meget drikbar. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Updated: Sep 9, 2007RB # 1200: 33 cL bottle. Pours deepest brown/black with a chocolate brown and thick head. Roasted malt and slight chocolate aroma, smooth. Medium bodied. Coffee, roasted malt and slight chocolate smoothness in the flavour. Slight nutty. Nice bitterness in the finish blendin smoothly in with the malty notes. Smoothness is the keyword to this brew rather than being imperial, greatly well balanced to _almost_ the same extent as Westvleteren.
Blind tasting at sk8vikings porter / stout tasting, beer no 2. Pours black with with little lacing head. Thick alcohol heavy liqourice aroma. Full bodied. Rye flavoured, chocolate, slight liqourice note. Soft roasted malty finish with a warming alcohol note. Has a somewhat aged feel to it. 6-4-7-4-13 3.4 harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England
