Commercial Description:
Honey Wines are believed to be the first fermented beverages on earth. Kings, artisoris, and romantics have all treasured honey wine known as mead. Vikings drank mead for stamina in war and lovers sipped mead to increase their intensity of love. Traditionally newlyweds would drink mead for one moon to ensure a prolific family (the honey moon). This mead has the sweet taste of succulent blueberries and honey with a crisp finish. Perfect served chilled on its own.

Had at the Hopleaf in Chicago. Simply amazing; by far the best mead I’ve ever tasted... also buttery and delicious... my friend said it tasted like blueberry pancakes!

500 ml bottle. The bottle is a smiling crescent moon shape and is pretty cool, especially when it still held the mead. Pours a deep purplish red with no head. This is a still mead. Pleasant aroma of blueberries and honey. The flavor is honey with a bit of earthiness and some light blueberry accompaniment. The berries are noticeable, they just seem to be struggling a bit. A bit of alcohol warmth at the finish. Mild-moderate sweetness and not cloying in any way.

On tap at the Hop Leaf in Chicago: Poured a light purple golden with lively sweet aromas. Flavors included very floral honey, fresh blueberries, and a lightly sour and dry finish. A very full bodied drink with a good amount of complexion. Good mead! Would love to try again.

750ml bottle that has been setting around for a year or more and served near room temp: Clean purple hue and moderately oily. The aroma has beautiful characteristics of tart blueberries and sweet blueberry honey along with a light herbal note that sort of reminds me of basil and heather. The flavor is moderate sweet honey and tart acidic fruit, a nice counterbalance that keeps this from becoming cloy. The finish is again herbal and flowery. The mouth feel is only medium-bodied and not the normal sticky qualities you find in the genre. I liked this a lot because of the balance and the fact I am a big blueberry fan.

Sample at Wes Lakeview Liquors, Chicago. Ruby red, semi-clear. Sour, chemical, dry aroma. Sour very blueberry flavor, sweet, not bad. Med body that is pretty clean (not sticky). Okay, not my favorite yet from them, especially the aroma which is very chemically.

This pours a clear purple with a touch of pink around the edges. <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 told me that this wasn’t overpowering with blueberries, perhaps my least favorite fruit, and he was basically right. The nose seems more like a berry blend, including raspberries and cranberries, and has a drop of honey sweetness along warming alcohol. The dry mead qualities make the fruitiness more palatable, but I find I prefer my brews unflavored with fruit. Still, pretty decent.

750 ml bottle bought from Sam’s Wine and Spirits, served at cellar temp. Pours a clear purple blue. Nose is full of sweet blueberries and other berries. Sweet and syruppy with honey and blueberries that are lightly tart. Pretty decent mead that would be nice as an after dinner desert. I’m excited to keep trying more meads from this chicago meadery.

750ml, served warm. thanks to holdenn for sharing his bottle. pours clear purple. a nice color. nose was pretty sweet, with hints of blueberries. flavor was mildly sweet honey, subtle blueberries, and sweet plums. alcohol was really well hidden. finishes clean but a little to light and watery. pretty tasty.
