Very thick legs. Just a stupefying aroma. Not tannic/harsh or overly dry but it pulls from the whiskey elements of spice, cola, smoke and clove/cinnamon while weaving the sweet honey notes in to it to create one of the most unique and enjoyable aromas I’ve found on a mead. Vanilla, light oak tartness upon warming and some typical medicinal/smokey phenols for balance, from the honey fermentation. I sat and smelled it for a looooong time before having a sip. Really lush, powerful aroma, but not overpowering or overdone. Alcohol is very well concealed for its strength. Some smokier, more subdued and earthy bourbon flavors are smattered about the honey flavor, which is quite sweet and succulent, though not cloying. Caramel, sweet molasses and brown sugar, with salty toffee and earthy wood notes all give quite a "heavy" flavor profile and some of the lightness of the honey is lost, and thus the drinkability. But yet, the mead is certainly not too sweet/sticky/syrupy, nor does the alcohol express itself much. In fact probably a little more alcohol dryness/perfuminess would even be welcomed. Vanilla, dark fruits and some light black pepper/anise phenols trail off on the finish. Incredible stuff. I am not a big fan of Jadwiga, yet I thought this was quite different and much more subtle/drinkable. kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours an oily, medium golden color; headless, beautiful legs. Intense, honey-driven aroma; very floral and syrupy sweet; strong show of alcohol, with a barely discernible whiskey presence. Full mouthfeel: intense honey and floral notes; syrupy sugar; very dense, with a warm barrel presence showing through slightly; vanilla, toasty oak, and warming alcohol. Dense. Excellent. Lengthy, sweet honey and floral finish. It ended up pairing nicely with a Cohiba Siglo IV later on in the evening. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA

It was an amazing surprise to see this opened. This is probably the finest looking mead I’ve ever seen, and maybe one of the finest looking drinks ever, even if I like a nice hazy glowing body and a rocky foam head on a beer, there’s something about the way a mead can slowly crawl down the sides of the glass with such structure. Someone said it "has legs" - that works. I was captivated. Initially the nose is sharp and hot, with a bit of a burn to the nostrils, much like ethanol or vodka, but beyond this, especially when aerated for a little bit of time, it opens up with sweet green apples, white grapes, pear skin, and spiced rum. I don’t detect any whiskey, honestly, only the rum and wood scent. Up front it’s sweet but not oversweet, with more white grapes and pears, spicy and prickly all over the tongue. Moderately thick, sticky and resiny. Finishes with a wonderful rum and honey flavor with a spiced sting left in the mouth. I thought at first that the hot nose would ruin it for me, but by the end of the glass I was in love. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA

Nice floral flavor mixes with the honey in this one. Some other flavors show up now and then--applebutter, melon, and a hint of spice that is floral in nature. Enjoyable for certain. The aroma is inititally harsh—full of lots of nail polish vapor-like alcohols. That disapates with time to breathe, revealing moderate notes of honey, light notes of smokey wood and wiskey. Not a seamless combination, but an intriguing match.

The flavor is heavily sweet, with a longish, lightly sweet, oaky finish.

The body is full, the texture is syrupy and it’s still.
