Commercial Description:
Not suited for timid or reserved beer drinkers, Wild Blue’s defining taste characteristic is its kick of natural blueberry flavor. The Blue Dawg Brewing team carefully selected a blend of hops and barley malt to ensure they complemented and balanced Wild Blue’s dominant blueberry notes, resulting in a robust and aromatic beer with a refreshing, palate-cleansing finish. Wild Blue is brewed with a blend of German hops from the Hallertau region in Bavaria and classic Aroma hops from the Willamette Valley in the Pacific Northwest. A combination of two- and six-row barley malt also was chosen specifically for this recipe. Beer lovers will appreciate this specialty fruit-infused lager’s striking burgundy color, ripe blueberry aroma and its ability to stand up to the strongest of foods.

Bottle:   Reddish in color, purple hues, pink shaded head, frothy, moderate in size, dies quickly leaving a small ring of lacing.   Fruity nose, strong, but also artificial.   At least it smells better than most other fruit beers.   Quite sweet on the tongue, but not cloying.   Candyish, and certainlyi artificial.   Pretty much what I thought it would be.   However, the 8% ABV is well hidden.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Fruity finish, much like Kool-aid.   The more I sip this the more it seems like Kool-aid.   In fact, it seems more like Grape Kool-aid.   Not all that Blueberry like.   More flavorful than most, but unfortunately just as artificial as most.

This beer has a deep cranberry color in the glass. The fruityness hits you up front, but leaves a very sour aftertaste like a lambic yet more unpleasant.

Everything about this brew is blueberry. Aroma and taste are blueberry, and there is almost no hop content. The blue pour is also quite appealing.

Pours a slight red, deepening with the full pour. Thin head with little retention. Blueberries on the nose, not much else. Tastes of blueberry, almost wine like, hint of sour. High carbonation with little body.

Okay let me clarify why the low scores. As a beer this is lacking because it really does not taste like a beer. The hops and malts are overpowered by a sweet blueberry flavor. This drink smells like blueberry, looks like blueberry, and tastes like blueberry. This tastes closer to a wine cooler than a beer. Now, with that being said, it’s not bad for a flavored drink. I couldn’t drink more than one, but it is okay for a change of pace.

Pinkish ruby red, pink foam. Blueberry puree aroma, preserves and pie. Sweet blueberry pie taste, sugar, little else. Not bad.

Consumed 9-10-09....Much different in the glass than bottle...the glass reveals too many faults that the bottle held well---Its sweet...the blueberries are drowned in sugar--very one dimensional--not beer like at all--more like a wine cooler or malternative--a sugar coating left on my teeth--drinks easy but finishes sour

12 oz. bottle- Pours ruby red with minimal head and suprisingly good lacing, aroma is of berries. As a cheerleader beer you can’t get much better than this.
