williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Jul 29, 2009 The appearance is a deep, dark red color. Glassy but a little murky. Head disappears fast, but leaves a light-brown film. The smell is some crisp, lagery malt aromas. Also a brown-sugar smell as well. Has a nutty quality in the nose, although as it warms it turns a little musty. Average. The taste is the combo of a sweet, brown sugary flavor, mixed with a crisp, slightly sweet lager malt. Very close to a British ale, as sugary as it is. The feel is creamy and fizzy. Not a watery lager. Smooth on the way down. It’s sugary, like a sweet, British beer. Average. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jul 25, 2009 Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of earth, caramel, some spicy hints. Tastes earthy and sweet with a hint of bitterness on the finish. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jul 8, 2009 sampler pack Minimal, non-offensive odor. Deep brown chestnut color. Not quite opaque, but pretty close. Mellow dark malt flavors with a smooth sugary finish. Mild hop balancing, no real stand out characteristics. Very easy drinking with a pleasant body ben4321 (953), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 12, 2009 Overall Impression:
Generously, I’ll call this a half decent brown, dull flavors, slightly malty, not much there...
shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Apr 29, 2009 bottle from trazdogg. pours brown. slightly bitter. nutty, smooth. not terribly impressive Suttree (2702), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 20, 2009 Very dark brown, nice foamy beige head. Kind of nutty aroma, and fairly toasty. Lightly charred flavor, some understated sweet notes. Not horrible. NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Apr 12, 2009 Nice brown color with no head. Aroma is baked bread, and nuts. Taste is the same plus honey and caramel. Dry finish. I’m not enjoying this. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Apr 8, 2009 Beer of the month. Tasty dark lager. All you nut lovers will enjoy this. I do think it’s pretty cool that the club sends beers like this that only have a few dozen ratings. I’m sure I would never have tasted this beer otherwise.
