ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Nov 7, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured a dark red amber color with a fizzy white head. The aromas are of nuts, roasted malts, slight hops, and spicy notes. The taste is quite nutty, malty, and mild cocoa. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 14, 2009 bottle mix pack.
Pours amber/brown with off white head.
Aroma of caramel malts, light hazelnuts. On the weak side.
Taste, light caramel, some nutty roasted malts, light notes of chocolate.
Overall finish leaves a light bitter and nutty mouthfeel. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 4, 2009 12oz bottle with Butters. Pours a light tan head with and amber body that has some ruby to it. Smells of molasses and some brown sugar. Tastes like burnt sugar and nut skin. Likke bitter and nutty on the finish. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 3, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased from Woody’s in Cool Springs. Poured a hazy brown/amber color with a half finger of tan head. The aroma was sweet malt with faint notes of molasses and brown sugar. The flavor was somewhat weak, with caramel and toast dominating. This was a weak offering. I didn’t get a lot of nuts in the flavor. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jan 28, 2009 Bottle split with barrios at woody’s. Pours a murky hazelnut brown with ring of light tan head and very tiny suspended particulate. Sweet nutty maltiness with a hint of molasses in the nose. Flavor is similar, with toast and some butter, caramel. Too sweet. Too carbonated. Maybe this bottle was not that good. jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 25, 2009 From a bottle poured brown with a good amount of head. Flavor a little watery malty with no finish. doboy (175), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jan 5, 2009 Served up light brown, with a nutty aroma. It had a light colored lacy head. The malty flavor was accentuated with that of toasted nuts. A Nice brown Ale. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Oct 12, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. Best if enjoyed before 05708FX stamped on bottle. Pour is cola brown, with a billowing tan head - 3 inches at least. Very frothy. Aroma of not much, some light black cherry, some hazelnut a bit a biscuit maltiness. Taste is pretty sharply sweet with a chemical cherriness, followed quickly by a dusty nuttiness. Finish has an almost tobacco taste to it. Palate is thin to medium, drinkable. Carbonation was a bit too active for my liking. Thanks for sending this, Phil.
