12 oz. Bottle pours a clear brown/red with a beige head and nice lacing. Light malt nose. Smooth and balanced malt flavor with a hint of bitterness at the end. Drinkable beer.

Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Smells nutty with some malty presence. Taste is nutty with some caramel and toffee notes. Finishes lightly sweet. No hop profile to speak of.

Transparent brown color. The aroma is sweet and malty and the flavor is similar along with the expected notes of nut. Some toffee flavor is present as well. I found this beer to be extremely drinkable with a light feel.

12oz bottle pours brown with an average creay tan head. Aromas of nuts, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is mostly roasted nuts and caramel. A hint of chocolate there as well. Light hops on the finish with a lingering sweet aftertaste. Fairly smooth and creamy on the palate. Would make a fair session.

Slightly translucent brown pour, with a thin brown head. Slightly sweet malt aroma with some chocolate. Nutty taste, pretty balanced considering it’s overall maltiness... not bad for a freaking brown. Perhaps underrated.

Thin, flat, forgettable...Nothing about this beer stands out or is at all memorable. Nut Brown with no nuttiness. Very timid hopping as well , with only hints of rumors of a suggestion of hop bitterness. And, just to complete the trifecta of mediocrity, the texture is just so watered-down.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopscotch on 28-Jan-06, thanks Eric!) Who remembers when this was still a vintage-dated seasonal from the original Wild Goose brewery in Cambridge? The last time I drank this beer, it was the 1997 release. This tasty nut brown certainly earns its name with the sweet, chocolaty, nutty maltiness being showcases every which way it can. It tastes almost like cocoa mix. A mild bitterness lends some balance to the sweetness, but the cocoa flavor totally dominates. Mildly aromatic nose shows a bit of that sweet, chocolaty maltiness, but it’s only modestly inviting. Thinnish body is light to medium and carbonation is on the gentle side. Light-medium brown in color and fairly clear for the darker hue of this beer. The small, light tan head settles to a small ring all too quickly and leaves no lacing. This is of course a very one-dimensional beer, but despite its blatant simplicity, I still like this brew because it’s just tasty and enjoyable.

Deep burgundy and mostly clear; quickly fading head. Mouthfeel is light, even a little watery at times. Curious aromas throughout (some good, some kind of synthetic in nature). Very nutty, with a sweet, Boston Baked Beans quality. Lesser notes of sweet wood, light toffee, brown sugar and a pinch of peaty earth. Bitterness was mild. Hint of lactic-like sourness in the aftertaste. OK brown.
