Overall, a very sweet and nutty beer with little in the way of hops. Several different malts seem to provide some smoke, nut and sweetness. A wonderful beer to use to introduce newbies to "dark" beer. Easily drunk and fairly mild.

A sturdy nut brown with a rich malty body abounding with nutty flavors. Rich and hearty on a cold night by the fireplace. Very nice appearance and delicious flavor. By the way, this is no longer just a fall seasonal, they’re making it available all year long now.

12 ounce bottle- brown ale the way it was meant to be done. A nutty, chocolate aroma carried through to the taste with a warm glow to follow. A slight weakness on the palate is the only negative for this ale. Excellent overall.

Wow, I really like this beer. Nice caramel and nut accents in the flavor, with a creamy texture.

12oz bottle. Brown toffee color, looks filtered. Nutty caramel flavors. Malty, rich, and creamy. Nothing over the top, but a pretty good session beer.

Better than their amber and porter but worse than their snow goose and IPA. Nice chocolate aroma and flavor, sweet and nutty.

A few bottles of this came in my Beer of the Month Club shipment this month. This brew pours a clear ruby brown. The large rocky light brown head is mostly lasting with good lacing. The nose is primarily roasted malts with hints of molasses, spruce, resin, leather, cheese, and brown sugar. The flavor is balanced if not terribly complex with decent acidity and bitterness and a long nutty finish. The medium creamy body is soft and dry with a somewhat chalky astringency feel to the finish.
