GMUcrew7 (208), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Jul 6, 2008 Pours translucent amber/brown with fast receding light tan head. Very nutty aroma. Nice sweet toasted nut flavor with some chocolate. Somewhat of a light body, a respectable brown ale with a nice nutty flavor.
theisti (1091), Leawood, Kansas, USA Oct 12, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. Best if enjoyed before 05708FX stamped on bottle. Pour is cola brown, with a billowing tan head - 3 inches at least. Very frothy. Aroma of not much, some light black cherry, some hazelnut a bit a biscuit maltiness. Taste is pretty sharply sweet with a chemical cherriness, followed quickly by a dusty nuttiness. Finish has an almost tobacco taste to it. Palate is thin to medium, drinkable. Carbonation was a bit too active for my liking. Thanks for sending this, Phil. merlin48 (354), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2008 Twelve ounce bottle pours a clear cola brown body with a small and transient beige head. Sparse lacing. Aroma is muted, just a hint of chocolate and faint grassy hops. Medium body is overcarbonated. Taste is underwhelming. Faint malty chocolate and a vague hop bitterness. Maybe this is an old bottle. RONCOD (76), Pennsylvania, USA Sep 21, 2008 Dark brown color with a thick tan head that faded quickly. The first taste was a sweet caramel malt flavor. The flavor faded a little at the end. Not too bad. I would try again. daknole (856), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 got this in a trade a long time ago. Not half bad. brown pour wtih a beige head. Aromas of nuts and malt/. Flavor is nutty, yeasty, crackers, etc. Not bad, not bad at all! lithy (206), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 Very clear ruby brown color with a thin tan head and heavy nutty brown malt aromas. Warms roasted nuts and a light effervescence on the tongue gives a smooth nuttiness and breadiness to the taste but is not as ’heavy’ as the aroma suggests. Some milk chocolate slips through in the finish and lingers nicely.
