| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2007 Bottle from Party Source, KY. Poured clear dark brown with a mimimal creamy light brown head that mostly diminished and produced fair lacing. Good roasted malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium complex roasted flavor with a medium pleasing bittersweet finish of moderate duration. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2007 Bottle courtesy bstill - thanks! Pours a clear blackish brown with ruby highlights and a thin moderate head. Sweet aroma of vanilla, coffee, toffee and smoke with a touch of citrus hop behind it. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fairly sweet taste that picks up the same notes as the aroma. A little bit of oatmeal slickness in the finish. but no real contribution to the taste. Nice noble hop finish that isn’t evident in the first few sips, but sort of builds as I go. NachlamSie (1657), Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Bottle. Pours a very dark red that looks fairly black. The aroma is a little sticky with hints of soda, licorice, toffee. I’m not sure I would’ve noticed this without having a prior discussion about it, but there’s a serious likeness to Dr. Pepper. It smells like it’s going to be one of those cola stouts. Well, the flavor is a step up. More ashy flavors come out along with some coffee, I can’t really detect use of oatmeal in this. The finish is a bit sticky in a soda way and gets a little bearing towards the end of the glass. All in all, it’s really not that bad, but I’ve had way better. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Poured a nice near near black with red around the edges and a decent sized brown head. Aroma seemed very faint, but of roasty malts. Taste is mainly roasted malt, with some bitter tastes coming through. Not the best oatmeal stout, but for 6 bucks a six pack it isn’t bad at all. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Black with a reddish tint, nice dense brown head. Coffee and chocolate, of course, but also a whiff of Dr. Pepper/ And a floral note. Flavor is also coffee and chocolate, plus a surprising hop bite. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2007 Bottle. Pours very dark mahogany with proportional beige head. The aroma is berries, oats, and a hint of coffee. The flavor is noble hops which give it a bite at first, then light roasted coffee and oats, some burnt ashy chocolate notes. The finish is on the dry side for the style, with earthy hops and alcohol. Dry aftertaste. Could use some work. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Pours black with creamy but thin tan head. Aroma is noticeable from several feet away. Its toasty, roasted, chocolate, earthy, beef jerky, and some sweetness but more lighter malt aroma than expected from a stout. Its a nice aroma but it doesn’t seem to fit the style. The flavors are smooth and dry. Roasted coffee and sweetness that is toffee like. Oatmeal and a strong bready feel lend to a nice sweet and dry finish where the roasty malt lingers.
