Aroma is pretty roasty and holds some chocolate and mild coffee, but it has a slightly dirty smelling tinge to it. Body is flat black and supports a diminishing thumb thick tan head. Roasty bitter fore is immediately smoothed by the oatmeal and chocoalte sweetness. Ssustained roast bitterness toward the finish and into the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is solid and it feels mildly biting, but still smooth on the tongue and throat. Prettty nicely done. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Bottle. Decent aroma, burnt oatmeal. Dark appearance with thin head that stays. Very sweet taste, almost too sweet at times. As it warms the bitterness shows. Odd hop presence, not as balanced as it should be. heymitchum (4), College Park, Maryland, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 22, 2006 At 21 I’m a newbie to the world of beer tasting, but I’ve become infatuated with stouts. Wild Goose has a rich flavor and smooth after taste. This is definatly worth a try. cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Updated: Jul 11, 2008My first taste of an oatmeal stout. The price was right, 96 cents a 12 oz bottle at Beaver Valley Beverage in Monaca PA so I gave it a try. I was surprized that I needed a real bottle opener to get the top off! It has a lovely inviting chocolate smell in my three stooges glass, something like a quality fudge-sicle. An initial taste revealed a creamy chocolate surprize...much more chocolate than mackesonxxx. Does not have quite the burnt charcoal flavor as Mackeson xxx and is just a little thinner. Very impressive. Has that real stout flavor. I could drink many of these at a time. Just a little bit of bitterness in the aftertaste. askjaer (23), Frederiksberg C, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2006 From a 12 oz. bottle. Color is dark brown but clear if held against the light. Pours a medium dense tan head that falls quickly. The aroma is sweet malty with traces of brown sugar, liquorice, milk chocolate and coffee. The taste is sweet and creamy at first rounding into some light roast flavours at the end. There is no taste of smoke or any heavy roast flavours. Also no distinguishable taste of oatmeal, which I had hoped for. Soft and smooth mouthfeel, creamy and round with a fairly light body. It’s a nice and easily drinkable stout but a little on the light side regarding body and roasted flavours if you ask me. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste of lightly roasted coffee with a malty finish and a bit of toasted bread. Body a little weak for a beer this sweet. All in all an OK stout, but not that impressive. zebracakes (1215), Washington DC, USA
