This was tasty. Pours a light brown, but turns darker in the glass with a big frothy head. The taste is just this side of perfect, with a mellow roastedness, that has hints of coffee, toasted chocolate malts and cocoa. This one could have had a stronger malt backbone, and a stronger hop profile, but overall a very nice take on the style.

12 oz bottle. Tall, frothy, rocky, tan head is slowly diminishing and sits on a near opaque black body. Medium coffee, dark chocolate, toaste grain malt (M); earthy hops. Moderately sweet throughout with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium-heavy body, oily texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: I wish it was a little stronger in the malt department.

Bottle. Dark brown color with a big frothy light bown head. A sweet lactose aroma with a subtle roasted malt base. Medium bodied with a long sweet and dark roasted barley finish. Thanks to hopscoth for the trade.

Dark brown with a tan head. Looks good to the eye. The aroma is touched with chocolate and coffee and some molasses. The flavor gives off coffee hints and is quite satisfying and delicious.

Smells of semi-sweet chocolate, caramel, pipe tobacco, and a rotten wheat-like smell. Not entirely bad, in fact I kind of like it. Appearance is dark brown. Flavor is not nearly as good as the aroma - seems off, slightly sweet with a slightly coffee-like and milky finish. Palate is somewhat dissapointing. Had this one at the Southern Ratebeer Gathering in Austin, TX on December 6, 2003.

Plain dark stout. Against many great ones, this is not stellar as a stout. Unidimensional flavor & aroma. Raosted.... but wait...an underlying fruit cake flavor does appear. Soft palate, a bit frothy. (Sampled at Southern Ratebeer Gathering, Austin, TX, December 6, 2003)
