Black in color...opaque. Thick, creamy head. Heavy malt aroma. Bold flavor of malt up front...slightly crisp mouthfeel. Malty sweetness in the back, with subtle hints of chocolate and oats...dry finish. Though simple in content and style, this brew is very well built and quite refreshing.

Black pour, but let light from a bulb through it, and a tan head. Could barely smell the sweetness of the brew. It is an o.k. beer but nothing about it could really set it apart from others.

Thanks to Ughsmash for sending me one of these in a trade a few months ago. I finally got around to trying it and I had done so much sooner. This is what an oatmeal stout should aspire to be - a blend of a few simple flavors with enough taste to let you remember it but no so much they end up making something heavier.

Aroma / Appearance - The short lived ocre head mixed with the black body. Hints of warm oatmeal cookie, chocolate chips, and a Starbucks iced coffee made it very inviting on a cold afternoon.

Flavor / Palate - Creamy it coats the tongue in a nice array of tastes. Tasting like flat Dr Pepper it blends cherries, chocolate, and vanilla with oatmeal and a residual sweetness. A toned down version of Founder’s Breakfast Stout it is also much more affordable. Next time I run across Wild Goose beers I may have to give them another shot.

12 oz bottle purchased from Woody’s in Cool Springs. Poured a dark black color with a half finger of brown head. The aroma had notes of chocolate and oats, along with something that shouldn’t have been there that I couldn’t place. The flavor was strong with coffee and chocolate, but again, there was a twang that I couldn’t place. This wasn’t a horrible failure, but was just a little off. I will taste again and re-rate if different.

Bottle. Dark brown color... pours a little thinner than expected. The head is pretty minor and settles down to a few lonely bubbles in a minute or so. This beer has a fairly nice chocolate and oat nose. Flavor is thin, but has a pretty nice mix of roasted malt: chocolate and charcoal/peat are the dominant flavors, but there is a little bit of a dry and bitter coffee like edge to it as well. This is pretty good, but could stand to be a little fuller in my opinion.

Clear dark brown pour with ruby highlights and good dark tan head with some lacing. Aroma of oats, roast, and chocolate. Flavor is a nutty chocolate, with some earthiness. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nicely done.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown pour with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted but very sweet. Good amount of cream, caramel, chocolate, and some coffee. Flavor is creamy and roasted at the beginning with a creamy and sweet middle and a very nicely roasted and slightly hoppy finish. Only problem is that it is way too thin for my taste.
