Commercial Description:
Appearing almost black at first glance, Wild Goose Porter is actually a deep ruby-red ale. Roasted malt flavors accent its velvety finish.

Pours ruby in color, with minimal head. Aroma of roasty malt, and some coffee. Finishes fairly smooth, with malt and coffee.

Dark brown with reddish highlights that produced a nice frothy head and good lacing. The aroma has notes of mocha, walnut, toffee, smoky burnt malts, floral hops, and a touch of berry. The taste starts nicelt chocolaty sweet with a nice balance of bitters undertone. Additional notes of smoke and some coffee character upon the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and lightly creamy, good body for a porter. Quite nice, a solid drinkable brew. Thanks for the bottle Matt (TheDM).

Bottle. Poured a small sized tan head that contained fine-small sized bubbles. Softly carbonated, opaque and very dark brown hue. The aroma of this beer was malty, chocolate and sweet. The flavor was sweet tasting, malty, very mild coffee tasting, and chocolate. The palate was smooth but on the thin and watery side for a porter in my opinion. There was very sparse lacing on the sides of my glass.

This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of finely sized light brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body is an opaque black brown color with no visible carbonation. The aroma contains mild notes of dark malts and chocolate. The mouth feel is somewhat sweet thin and smooth from start to finish. The flavor contains notes of dark malt chocolate and not much else.

color is deep brown almost black, ample head is tan and creamy, but pretty quickly disappearing. not much roastiness in the aroma, hints of apple (like i often pick up a lot of bitters) though. flavor is slight roast, mild bitterness, especially in the finish and aftertaste.

Stouts and porters. Gotta love them. This poured dark brown with ruby hints and a tan, foamy head. Nose was caramel, coffee, chocolate, vanilla symphony. The flavor was rich and bold and satisfying.

12 oz. brown bottle. No freshness date seen, although there is a space for one on the label. Poured out a deep ruby brown, just like the label says, but it looks brown to me also. Not much head, it did leave a decent lacing along the top of the beer itself. Aromas are mostly of sweet grains, some slight nutty aromas as well. Some roastiness also, but not pronounced. A bit of caramel in the flavor balanced by the hops. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy consistency to it. Finished slightly dry, but tasty all the same.

The smell somewhat reminds me of a port wine, unusual, but nice. The followthrough on the flavor is quite good, plain and simple, but its a good porter.
